The Global Light Rail Awards was the first virtual awards to be held in the White Space Virtual Venue and was a great success.
Well-known as the industry’s ‘Oscars’, the 2020 event, organised by Mainspring and produced by White Space broke new ground in its new virtual format. The evening was hosted by respected broadcaster and journalist Nicholas Owen and sponsored by a host of industry leading names the event was opened with a speech from UK Light Rail Minister Baroness Vere.
The virtual format contained pre-recorded sponsor and winner videos with the host being filmed in our green studio in Essex. the whole event was live streamed into a fully event branded “White Space Virtual Venue”
The venue was enabled to accommodate over 200 guest sitting at named virtual tables of 10 all being able to video chat to their colleagues while watching the main event in another video window. It proved such a successful format the video socialising continued long after the awards had finished. The guests could also message other attendees on the chat wall and also jump from table to table to catch up with old friends, this was all done without any of them missing a moment of the awards ceremony.
